Hallsville Quarter, Canning Town

Forming part of the £3.7 billion Canning Town and Custom House Regeneration Programme, Hallsville Quarter is the new £600 million town centre that is being created to establish a lasting legacy for Canning Town. It will act as the catalyst for the transformation of the wider area, helping to form a new, thriving and prosperous district centre for this emerging area of east London.

It will be delivered over five phases, will provide approximately 1,100 mixed tenure housing units, over 30,000 m2 of leisure and retail space, and community facilities. New pedestrian links and cyclist provision are also included, as well as 1,100 secure parking spaces. The whole scheme is scheduled to be completed by 2024.

 

Phase 1 of the scheme will comprise 179 units of private and affordable housing, a Morrison’s foodstore of over 7,600 m2, an ancillary retail unit, an energy centre at ground floor level, a basement car park and surface car parking comprising circa 400 spaces. Phase 1 Practical Completion is scheduled for Q1 2015.

 

Phase 2 will deliver 344 homes comprising 169 private for sale units, 120 private rented units and 55 intermediate units. Other uses include retail, restaurants, and a hotel among others. Homes will be provided around private communal spaces and internal gardens or courtyards, which will be elevated above ground level. Phase 2 Practical Completion is scheduled for Q1 2017.
